VSL On A Green Mission

We are all aware that climate change is happening. Recent flooding and heat waves, both locally and internationally, are a stark reminder that this is a very real issue, which needs addressing right now.

At VSL we believe that every individual has the opportunity to make a difference, no matter how big or small. That is why we have been on a mission to become greener over the past few years, and will continue to do so, improving our business practices for the benefit of our environment as much as we can.

As technology advances, so do the opportunities to make greener changes, to benefit and protect the world around us. Utilising cloud-based solutions, for telephony, connectivity and software wherever possible enables many of our colleagues to work from home. With the added benefit that whenever upgrades, or servicing is required this too can be achieved remotely.

We are seeing more and more of our new and existing customers choosing cloud based options. The flexibility it offers provides businesses with greater abilities to change and develop with the times, including the opportunities to become more environmentally conscious.

What are we doing to contribute?

At present, we have 60% of the VSL fleet at either 100% electric, or hybrid vehicles, and by 2023 we hope that all of our company vehicles are either electric or hybrid. We are creating exciting opportunities for our staff to encourage them to choose a plug-in option.

By 2030 the sale of all new petrol and diesel engine vehicles will be banned, and getting on board with an electric vehicle early, has been an exciting and easy transition for us to make. Car manufacturers are bringing out new Electric Vehicles every year, meaning there is more choice than ever before.

As an office we have gone as paperless as possible in the last 5 years, and encourage all of our existing customers to choose paperless options wherever possible. To date we have managed to get 95% of all of our monthly billings to a completely paper free option.

We have also converted to 100% LED lighting across our entire office. Not only do LED lights have an improved energy performance in comparison to incandescent and fluorescent lights, but they also contain no mercury so can be disposed of in a far more environmentally friendly way.

Finally, 2 years ago we switched the way our contracts are signed and dealt with, utilising the powerful benefits of DocuSign. This is a software solution that gives you the ability to send off contracts for approval and signature to your clients quickly, efficiently and from anywhere in the world. Once again, this has helped our entire organisation work remotely, but also saved us thousands in paper waste.
