Name: JeanetteJeanette

Job Title: Support Administrator

How long have you been with VSL?

Since September 2009 – so almost 7 years

What’s been your best moment of your career at VSL?

Not easy to define this. On the whole I have enjoyed my time with VSL from day one.

What’s the best thing about working at VSL?

The people who work within VSL and the support that they can provide when unexpected situations arise. Everyone helps out and  everyone works together when it really counts.  From a purely personal point of view without this support I could not have coped at times and for this I thank all of my colleagues.

How long have you been in the telecoms industry?

Only since I joined VSL so not very long at all really.

What’s the biggest change in the industry from when you started to right now?

As customer technology has evolved and become more and more  complex behind the scenes processes and systems have become more automated. Online portals have sped up ordering and licence management. In turn we can offer a more responsive service to our customers.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned working in the telecoms industry?

That no two days are ever the same and circumstances change very rapidly.  Also BT are impossible to actually speak to which can cause frustrations for everyone.

What’s your favourite product we sell?

Difficult to define from my perspective as I only really get involved on the admin side not the nuts and bolts of the products. Mitel are certainly the easiest to order equipment from.

What’s your favourite telephone feature?

The ability to hit the mute button so that the caller cannot hear what you are saying – can sometimes be very useful, especially when we are fighting hard to get a BT engineer to a customer site!

What do you like to do outside of work?

Spending time with my family and friends; reading; listening to music; playing short mat bowls.

What’s your favourite song?

Difficult one as I like anything by Cliff Richard but I think it is actually a song by Tom Jones – Green Green Grass of Home as this is the song that was playing when I first met my husband at the Mecca in Stevenage in 1965.

What’s your favourite film?

Pretty Woman – or any film that has Richard Gere in it.

If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose and why?

I think it would be my late 20’s to mid 30’s. I had just had my daughter and everything is going well. The world seemed a lot calmer around this time.

If you could eat one type of food or dessert every day and not suffer any consequences whatsoever, what would it be?

This would be cheese – I cannot eat this anymore and I really miss it.

What would be the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?

Probably faint but then I would arrange a party or a holiday for my family and close friends to help me celebrate.  Travelling to Canada, Australia and New Zealand would also be on my list of things to do.  Investing in the future for my immediate family would also be a priority to ensure that my Grand Daughter could go to University should she wish to and give her a helping hand getting on the property ladder.
